Yes, here in Central TX, pretty much all the landscapers do the holiday lights hustle, and from what I've heard from neighbors, it is NOT cheap. Estimates of $1K or more are to be expected, and all they do is what we refer to as "runway lights". You can tell which houses pay for the service, they all have the same string of white bulbs perfectly attached to the roof lines of the house. It really does look like a runway!
Many of the services will now also offer take down and storage service, and they provide the lights too; probably helps with repeat business.
OK, so here's my neighbor contribution. My old neighborhood, our lovely next door neighbors. Hubby has some medical issues, so I can tell he can see the value in being frugal. He was always interested in our side hustles and our aggressive FIRE plan. Wife would seem bored. One time, he looked hopefully at his wife and asked her "Honey, when will we be starting our early retirement savings plan?" Her response was quick and cool. "But we like to buy things, dear!" Ouch.
