My mother's God-given right to waste food...
« on: November 22, 2014, 06:39:33 AM »
So my parents received a letter from the city council this morning. It's a mailer, sent to any properties that have been recorded as having two or more trashcans out on collection day. And, of course, my parents put out two full cans. Cue the histrionics from Mom: "How dare they contend with our right to profligate waste", "We pay our property tax for that collection", and the like.

My father's in full agreement with the council, and finally has an excuse (that'll work in the long term) to try to stop so much waste being generated, but Mom wants to take this all the way to the Supreme Court; good luck with that. [It's worth noting that when Mom was on vacation for two weeks, Dad and I stayed back home and put out half of one can on trash day, most of that being stuff from before Mom left.]

And Mom wonders where the pension evaporates to...
