I don't have a car.

This came from the same friend who told a bunch of us a long, drawn out story of the expense and pain in the arse it was to have the ice machine in her refrigerator fixed.  I responded, "I have an ice cube tray that cost 97 cents.  If it ever breaks, I can replace it easily for 97 cents."

And she tells me she's frugal because when tuna goes on sale, she buys a case of it.  But she eats in restaurants every single day.

I love her, but she makes me crazy some days.

My child who has hated any and all trips in the car since infancy respectfully disagrees with your friend. :)

Who even cares? Most, if not all, great memories from childhood comes from doing something together, and it rarely involved stuff.

Did you try to disagree with her? Or just let her vent out her worries on you?

So all children raised in NYC/Chicago/etc. have no happy memories?  Because I'm pretty sure there are a LOT of city-raised kids whose parents didn't have a car, yet cities have parks, museums, and tons of other "happy memory making" stuff to do...

Some people are just so stupid about some things that I find it best to just politely smile and nod, while thinking "WOW you're dumb".

"He's looking at me!"
"She touched me!!"
"If you kids don't settle down and behave then I swear I will turn this car around, and nobody's going to... !"

My 3yo daughter doesn't like how our car smells. She puts her hands over her nose and whimpers. This has happened every time she's gotten in for 6 months.

And my all time favorite: "Go to your corners!"
