Conversation with my insurance agent
« on: April 04, 2013, 01:50:43 PM »
Got this email today from an insurance agent. I shopped for new renter's insurance, and found a cheaper one and was arranging to switch to the new provider. His response to my "what are the next steps" email:

"We can make it effective today. I would just need to take payment. If we set you up with automatic payments, we only have to take one month down. If we just bill you every month, then 2 months down. "

This was for a $180 annual premium.

I was flabbergasted that people choose monthly payments, with a $3-$5 service charge, for a <$200 premium!

They didn't give me the option to pay semi annually.  I can, they just won't inform me ahead of time or send me notices that they are increasing my premiums until it's fait accompli.  I'm looking for a new company.  And I'm beginning to hate all insurance companies.
