On its face, this sounds Antimustachian...but it is possible that everyone has a simple portfolio of three Vanguard index funds, so there is no reason to plan retirement. "Set it and forget it." Meanwhile, there are an almost infinite number of possible vacation options to consider.

I do think that you have to rebalance your portfolio. If the three funds are of different asset classes (e.g. large cap, small cap and bond), the impact of gains would make your allocation out of whack.


So, add another 15 minutes you need to take out of planning for vacation ;-)

yep glad you posted this with this take. 

i didnt read your post just went to the article and came back here to say wait a minute..

but we are on the same page. 

Things i spend more time doing than planning retirement ... vacationing... planning vacationing ... thinking about vacationing... planning vacationing while on vacation... vacationing on a frugal budget so i can vacation more.. figuring out what i think i want to do with my permanent vacation at 35-38... oh and vacationing
