"I sold my convertible to pay for the honeymoon"
« on: August 02, 2013, 02:08:12 PM »
Met up with an ex-work colleague the other day - pretty a-typical of the general population here.

20k on a wedding, couldn't afford the honeymoon so sold his convertible car (in rainy Britain) (which is still financed) to pay for 2 weeks on a beach.

Man.

At least your 2 weeks on the beach doesn't rust and depreciate.

I feel like this is somewhat mustachian (at least relative to most of those postings here :P).

Though...

Meh.  We have a convertible that's been paid off for a while, just sitting in our garage, and I would totally sell it with a plan in mind for what to do with the extra cash since we are already saving more than enough.  It's better than financing their honeymoon!

Exactly what I was thinking! In effect, he's converted his car loan into a beach loan. Not the most responsible, but 'tis far better than just borrowing more money!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
