If I had to try to calculate it my high earning friends probably spend $15 on lunch and $30 on dinner every single day. However, they probably get 25% of it covered by work.  As a result, they are probably close to 12K/year.

They work a lot but do not have families. If they had families they probably wouldn't be able to do their jobs with so many hours.

Cooking all my food has let me spend a little more money on nicer cycling,  hiking and running gear.

Last month, pre MMM, pre awakening, our Restaurant tab was $539 (family of 5)
This month, the stubble is starting to show.  Our Restaurant tab is $316
I predict that we'll get it down to $200 and probably stay there for awhile.
We're getting better and as long as our savings goals are met, I'll leave some fat on the bone that can be cut later as needed.

I easily used to spend $5000/yr on restaurants, take out, etc.

This was before I realized I can cook very well, and save 75-80% on my food =D

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
